Malic Acid

Malic Acid is used as a chelating agent to help remove metal contamination especially Aluminium from perfume, perfume compounds, aroma chemicals and essential oils. Long term storage in aluminium bottles can lead to a metalic note developing and for some materials discolouration. The Malic Acid is added at 1% by weight to the matwerial and being water soluble should precipitate. After 7 days the clear oil can be decanted off.
