The Professional Perfumer’s Bulletin
The Professional Perfumer’s Bulletin
Empowering the independent perfumer
Many companies and people approach PerfumersWorld to act as consultant perfumers for them and we have to quote thousands of dollars as it is time consuming and can be a complex matter. Now we have found an efficient way to offer you the
many advantages of having the expertise of a team of consultant perfumers working for you without having to pay towards the $xxx, xxx /year salaries.
It is called The Professional Perfumer’s Bulletin and is sent monthly with a great new formulation for each day in the form of a GCMS* result or a perfume compound formulation. Such as;
1) A GCMS derived breakdown of a famous perfume type (extrait or from a product such as soap, shampoo, candle etc.) just 1 of these alone would cost you
hundreds of dollars and you get at least 4 each month!
2) A formulation suggestion from the GCMS* results with suggestions for
modifications for price and product application.
3) A key base formulation such as an essential oil substitute, accord or sub-compound.
4) A floral perfume type including exotic florals.
5) A look at a product application or category and how to tackle stabilty or other problems.
6) A highlighted difficult to use material with suggestions on use.
7) A look at a flavour or novel style perfume compound for special effects and styles.
8) A forum area to answer those nagging questions and help trouble shooting.
Every year you can collect at least 50 GCMS* results and over 300 formulas!

Extra - The Bulletin Sample Option
The Bulletin Sample Option is an add-on service to the Bulletin for the corporate user, or for those that don’t have time or materials to make all the formulations in the Bulletin.
We realize that time is of the essence in business and this is why we offer the Sample Option as an add-on to the bulletin. When you choose the Sample Option we send you smelling samples of the formulations that appear that month in the bulletin. So all you have to do is quickly smell the samples and decide which ones to study the formulations of. This is great for the corporate user and makes the bulletin so much more convenient and powerful. At less than $3.00/sample it’s a great time saver and probably cheaper and quicker than your staff making them up.
The Bulletin Sample Option is an additional $805/year or $80.50/month. Order Now

FAQ’s
I don’t believe anyone ever gives formulations like this away! We aren’t giving them away that’s why theres a subscription fee! It lets us focus on what we like doing, creating new formulas and allows you to focus on the 3 M’s manufacturing, marketing and making money. If after you subscribe and at any time feel that the Bulletin does not live up to your expectations or our claims simply write and tell us and we will refund your last months subscription and then not bother you again. In the case of an annual payment we will also refund any subsequent months not yet dispatched.
Are these Real Formulations or just demonstration formulas?
These are real formulations that can be made today. They are NOT like the "demonstration" formulations sometimes available from websites or perfumery books that cannot realistically be made because they contain some material no longer produced, with 10% of floral absolutes, only specialities from multinational companies, or some long since IFRA prohibited materials.
While acting as consultant perfumers to many clients it is clear that many of their needs are similar but if we privately act as consultants for them on their individual projects, it is expensive and we have to plan on recovering a minimum of $100/hour, which for the independent perfumer or growing company is a major expense. So, utilizing the fact that many of the requirements have areas in common we have been able to set up a system to share these costs and give you great value for money.
Companies have spent $250,000 for a package of 250 formulas to start a new company, that’s $1,000 per formula! You get more than this in just the first year for a fraction of a fraction, of the price!
I really want everything on the bulletin but its just too expensive.
In this case opt for the monthly fee and take one bulletin at a time when you have saved up and use the link on the newsleter to request the next one, that way you don’t miss anything and it is entirely manageable. It would take you many more times the $3.00/formula just in materials alone to develop each one yourself without even taking in account anything for the time and experience factors required. Remember you only have to utilise one of the 350 plus formulas in a year to recover your investment many, many times over.
Why are you givng all the secrets of the trade away?.
Really none of these are secrets - if you work for a big company under a mentor all these things should be available but otherwise you are on the outside. Even though the formulation you see and the tips you get are enough to set up a perfumery company you will still want to be creative and make your compounds for your local market and customers requirements. However, you won’t be disadvataged by not having the limited number of perfumes to offer that you can only produce yourself. We see this rather than giving secrets away as helping level the playing field for the independent perfumer.
Can anyone subscribe?
No. We need to be sure that you are able to use the information sensibly and safely so, you must either work in or own your own perfumery company, have some
commercial perfumery training or have competed a perfumery course with us. This
need not be an obstacle as some of the course options are free. (e.g. The Art and Technology of Perfumery Foundation Course). You can complete one of these
courses and then based on your performance in the course we will consider your
application. Each of the subscriptions in personal and non-transferable.
I don’t need all the information can I just get the formulations I want from a list?
No, the reason that we can do this so cheaply is that it comes as a package. It really costs hundreds of dollars to develop each formulation and GCMS but you pay less than $3.00 per formula or GCMS. We know that some of them you will not need yourself but don’t overlook the lessons to be learned from each one.
I don’t have the materials to make up the formulations.
Most of the materials in the formulations we can supply, so these formulas are not just theoretical formulations but ones you really can make yourself. You can also get ready made samples of the formulas for a small payment so you can see if you would like to invest in making it yourself (NB. Selecting The Bulletin Sample Option is the best value.)
Is it ethical to show commercial formulas?
These formulations have been developed especially for the bulletin and are not used by anyone else.
Our mission is to make creative perfumery available to a much wider audience and requires that you have access to information, materials and techniques that until today were only available to bigger companies. The bulletin will increase the professionalism of smaller manufacturers and through the dissemination of knowledge and education inherent in the formulations and discussions of them will lead to increased product and consumer safety. This perhaps, in our own small way will help to address some of the ridiculous knee-jerk reactions based on bad science evident in recent European directives, which if continued may ultimately lead to less safe products. We think that whilst many will use the formulations directly yet others will tweak and develop them to even greater levels of creativity, "by standing on the shoulders of those who came before" (Issaac Newton).
*GCMS
GCMS is the abbreviation for Gas Chromatograpy – Mass Spectrometry a method of separating perfume compounds (concentrate) into their individual chemical components( the GC part) and identifying them (the MS part). It gives powerful
insight into a perfumes structure and helps to understand how it works for study or re-creation.
